Sally Field gives a strong performance in John Schlesinger's drama about a mother's fight for justice after her daughter is brutally killed. The film opens shockingly as Karen McCann (Field) hears her daughter's murder over the phone. The killer (Kiefer Sutherland) is set free on a technicality, so Karen takes matters into her own hands.
