Problems and resentments plague a seemingly content American family as the daughter (Flora Cross) progresses to the National Spelling Bee in this moving drama, which delves into spirituality and healing wounds. Richard Gere and Juliette Binoche star as the parents, and newcomers Max Minghella (son of director Anthony Minghella) and Cross are impressive as their children.
