Charlie finds a beat-up Volkswagen in a friend's junkyard which she then receives as a birthday present. As she tries to repair the car, she accidentally re-activates the Autobot known as Bumblebee. They soon discover however that the Decepticons are in close pursuit and Bumblebee is tasked with protecting Charlie and planet Earth.
